6 × 4, 7 × 5 and 10 × 8 inches are familiar photo sizes. Measure your actual print before choosing: a border or a different crop can change the paper dimensions.

Start with what you’re framing. The right size follows from the picture, not the space left on the wall.

A4, A3 and A2 follow standard paper dimensions. Posters also come in sizes such as 30 × 40 and 50 × 70 cm. Check the full sheet size, including any printed white margin.

Choose the artwork size first, then add your mount in the designer. We allow for the mount when calculating the frame size, so you don’t need to add it yourself.
See how to measureBefore you measure
Our measuring guide walks you through pictures with and without a mount.
Not quite. A4 is exactly 210 × 297mm (21 × 29.7cm), while 21 × 30cm is 3mm taller. Likewise, a 6 × 4 inch photo measures 152.4 × 101.6mm, so it is not exactly 15 × 10cm. Choose the units and dimensions that match your artwork rather than rounding them.
They are artwork sizes. A mount adds a border around the picture and the frame moulding adds further width. The overall frame will therefore be larger. If you need to fit a specific space on a wall, check the outside dimensions of your chosen design.
If you want to keep the existing mount, measure its full outside width and height and choose a frame without an additional mount. If you’re replacing the mount, measure the artwork itself and add a new mount in the designer.
Yes. The two measurements describe the sides of the artwork. A 10 × 8 inch picture and an 8 × 10 inch picture need the same rectangular size in different orientations. You can set the width and height to match your picture when customising your frame.
Yes. The sizes here are shortcuts, not the limits of the range. Use our any-size frame search for square artwork, wide panoramas and non-standard dimensions. For particularly large pieces, ask our team about suitable frame and glazing options.
